Dear John

In his shirt of tie-dye,
Brother John would chill.
Away from all the suits and ties,
The ruffles and the frills.

He said that he was smarter than,
Most folks his age were.
But you can't blame this lonely man,
As he fell hard for her.

She wanted to write a letter,
Dear John just forget her.
She has moved onto another,
There is no peace for you my brother.

She told him things he longed to hear,
That she would love him forever.
She'd give him kids and a career.
That they'd grow old together.

But then she ghosted him,
Breaking brother John in two.
And we were left to scrape and skim,
Until he was renewed.

She wanted to write a letter,
Dear John just forget her.
She has moved onto another,
There is no peace for you my brother.
