If I Saw You
I knew you once so long ago,
You were shy and too polite.
A sadness in you began to grow,
And so you locked up tight.
You didn't want to be a pain,
To cause regret or scorn.
You thought your family was ashamed.
You wished you were never born.
If I saw you standing there,
I would tell you yes.
Yes, you are a diamond, rare,
A relic in the mess.
And if I saw you standing still,
Amid a life so vast.
I would hope that I'd instill,
The sadness never lasts.
I know that you would not believe,
A doppelganger's word.
But I am hopeful you'll recieve,
That you are valid, you are heard.
I know that life can feel abrupt,
I know it's hard to see.
But you are wanted, you are loved.
You just have to trust me.
If I saw you standing there,
I would tell you yes.
Yes, you are a diamond, rare,
A relic in the mess.
And if I saw you standing still,
Amid a life so vast.
I would hope that I'd instill,
The sadness never lasts
You are wanted, you are loved.
You just have to trust me.
