Picasso

If I could draw my memories
I'd put them on a collage
And I'd hang it beside my tools
On the wall in my garage

Because memories and hand tools
Only serve to remind you
Of all the time you have wasted
And how much you didn't do

Chorus
I once read that Picasso said
To destroy is to create
I didn't know what he meant
But these days I can relate

I thought I had found true love once
That was a long time ago
She tried to make my dreams come true
But dreams make a heavy load

I carried those dreams for a while
But I couldn't make it last
I've always been scared of corners
She painted a bit too fast

Chorus
If every picture tells a story
Then Pablo painted my life
The pieces are all there
But they don't fit quite right

The days fly by, like the birds in the sky
Even birds know to run from the cold
I just sit here, as the days become years
And wonder why I feel so old

One day I'll pull those brushes out
And I'll paint my masterpiece
Then all the colors of the past
Will stop closing in on me

Chorus
I once read that Picasso said
To destroy is to create
I didn't know what he meant
But these days I can relate
If every picture tells a story
Then Pablo painted my life
The pieces are all there
But they don't fit quite right
