Why Oh Willa
Yesterday about half-past five,
I watched the engine come alive.
The pistons thrust, propellers spun,
A steel shell beamed beneath the sun.
It was a dream, my Willa vowed,
To live among the stars and clouds.
A captain of the skies she'd roam,
In her metal flying home.
Why oh Willa, oh Willa, oh why,
Did you have to take my heart and fly?
Why oh Willa, oh Willa I cry,
When I see a plane taking to the sky.
Why oh Willa, oh Willa, oh why,
Did you leave me standing high and dry?
Why oh Willa, oh Willa I cry,
When I watched you board and waved goodbye.
As she took off into the air,
I watched my true love disappear.
Into the wide open blue,
A place of sun rays shining through.
After Willa left my sight,
I tried to live each day just right.
In hopes that I would see her still,
Landing on the distant hill.
Why oh Willa, oh Willa, oh why,
Did you have to take my heart and fly?
Why oh Willa, oh Willa I cry,
When I see a plane taking to the sky.
Why oh Willa, oh Willa, oh why,
Did you leave me standing high and dry?
Why oh Willa, oh Willa I cry,
When I watched you board and wave goodbye.
